It's that same time of year once again and we are back in the cockpit trying to raise money for the service you can't buy “The Royal Flying Doctor Service” (RFDS).

In previous years calling upon the community and businesses alike in support of this great cause. Once again, we are going into funding mode for the Outback Air Race Fund Raiser. Let the fund raising begin!

Behind the controls of the big Cessna will be Greg Weatherstone as Captain and myself - Linton Rumble as co-pilot, team manager and air craft owner.

Greg Weatherstone – having a background in flying many a type of aircrafts both private and commercial, brings great confidence to the team along with his passion for fundraising for worthy causes including riding twice from Brisbane to Sydney (Bridge - Bridge) raising money for brain cancer.

Linton Rumble – Paraburdoo resident, councilor for the shire of Ashburton and an active member of my local community. Living the dream in Paraburdoo cruising in my Cessna.

So why do we do this people may ask?

It’s our way of giving back to our local community with the RFDS frequenting Paraburdoo, Tom Price and other local communities throughout the year. We also meet likeminded people who do very unusual things in the Pilbara and surrounds. The first time we entered the race we certainly had no idea what we were in for but it was an amazing learning experience for us that also raised $10,000. The following year we entered again raising $19,500 which was an outstanding effort with contribution from the locals and business of Paraburdoo. For such a small mining town in the Pilbara this is a huge achievement. Well Done Paraburdoo for getting behind this amazing cause!!

I am not sure how we are going to go this year as we are limited on time but we have great confidence in the generosity of our local community and business alike. We would love to break last year’s record and break the $20,000 mark! We are up for the challenge so please give generously and get behind the rodents!
