Entry

CAN I ENTER?

The Outback Air Race is open to anyone who loves adventure.

The race is not exclusively for pilots, we have previously had several entrants who 'don't fly' themselves. We have been able to match entrants with ‘Pilots’ who don't have crew and 'Crew' who don't have a pilot. There is an age limit, all participants (including passengers) must be at least 17 years of age to come on the race.

If you own an aircraft of your own, or are thinking of hiring one for the race, pretty much any piston or turboprop powered aircraft, fixed or rotary wing, fast or slow, big or small, can come on the event – subject of course to suitability of the destination airports and your aircraft’s endurance.  We probably wouldn’t recommend you bring your business jet or warbird fighter on some of our dirt strip destinations though…..

If you are interested and would like to join us please email contact@outbackairrace.com.au. This is the link to bring people together and get you started on your adventure.  We invite anyone even remotely interested in the event to our regular “Chinwags” (refer below for the date of the next Chinwag). These Chinwags or meetings are held at the Royal Aero Club’s function room at Jandakot Airport.  We’d love to meet you.

REGISTRATION

The race has been officially launched by RFDS WA’s Chief Pilot, Michael Bleus at a function at RACWA Jandakot on 10 November, 2011.  So entry to the 2012 Outback Air Race is now open!

Please download the Team Registration form below – this allows you to register your team and the team captain. Please follow the instructions on the form and return the form (by scan & email to treasurer@outbackairrace.com.au or by post to us at PO Box 7953 Cloisters Square WA 6850).  Payment is best made by EFT, or you can post us a cheque (payable to the “Outback Air Race” – not to the RFDS please).

Each team member other than the Captain needs to complete the other form (the “Team Member Registration Form”) which also requires to be submitted back to the treasurer.

You can submit all the forms and pay now for all team members if you know exactly who your team is; or alternatively register just those you know and register the others later.  All team members should be registered as soon as possible to enable them to participate in the Accommodation Request which will be released in March. Team Member Profiles will furthermore need to be provided by latest end of May 2012 to enable ordering and provision of shirts and hats

Once your entry has been processed and money received, you will then receive an Info Pack, either at the next Chin Wag or via the post.

As part of registration, teams are required to fundraise a minimum of $2,000 per team member prior to race commencement. This will assist in achieving the events overall goal of raising $250,000 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. To make the fundraising an easier task, the OAR committee in conjunction with RFDS have introduced online donation system Everyday Heroes (and you are the heroes raising money for a great cause). This will make your deposits simpler and relieve our Treasurer from the manual task. Your team’s “Every Day Hero” web page will also be created so you and your team can start fundraising, and embellishing your team’s web page with bios, photos, sponsor logos, stories and whatever else will help you to fundraise. Anyone can donate to your team’s RFDS fundraising effort from this page.
