My first experience in a light aircraft was while in Scouts during an “Air Activities” Camp.  Since that time I had flying on my list of things to do.   Fast forward 15 years and I completed a TIF flight at Jandakot in the early 2000s, and again filed flying away for a few more years. Then in mid 2009, the bug finally bite and by the end of 2010 I gained my PPL(A).  Since then I have gained my CSU and Retractable endorsements and have racked up 230hrs.

Notwithstanding a few hours in Qld, all of my flying has been done in WA.  I have flown over most of WA, from Broome to Esperance and out to Kalgoorlie and Newman.

In 2007, over a 5 month period, I rode my motorbike around Australia clocking up over 32,000km by the time I returned to Perth.    While travelling to as many remote locations as possible (going the long way) I became acutely aware of how remote many areas of the country are, and how far away help could be.   During the past 15 years, I have work a wide variety of remote location WA and NT, and  at time being in excess of 6 hours drive from the closest hospital.  It was while working on these mine sites, I have seen first hand the value and benefits that are provided by the RFDS.   Be it from motor vehicle accidents, heart attacks, snake bites or other misadventure, the RFDS is always there.  LETS KEEP THEM FLYING.
